.. Preaches love and peace among Akure speaking communities
The first Igoba day celebration took place on Saturday, November 29, 2025 with pomp and ceremony that attracted important dignitaries including government functionaries to the peaceful and ancient community that is geographical located in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The celebration, forming part of the grandier plans to foster unity and peace among the inhabitants, was also used to raise funds from the cheerful givers for the construction of the Ultra Modern Civic Center for the town.
The renowned Philanthropist and Ondo State Political Chieftain, Dr Barr Olumuyiwa Adu “Cubana” was specially invited as the event Chief Launcher with royal endorsement from the Traditional Ruler of the expanding community, His Royal Highness, Oba John Adeniyi Adinlewa, Fiwagbade 1, The Obaloogun of Igoba Land.
To the glory of God, Dr Adu has contributed many benefits to humanity with exceptional leadership abilities, renewing hope of thousands of beneficiaries and significantly enhancing community development which have underscored his gargantuan capacity and competence to drive good representation with his kindness, talents and resources.
His speech which was delivered extemporaneously centred concentrically on four cardinal issues of love and peace among Akure speaking community, leadership burdens, history behind Akure pynagerics and folksongs and the imperative to support administrations of Governor Aiyedatiwa and President Tinubu.
Dr Adu said, “Governor Aiyedatiwa is doing quality projects across the state in less than one year in office and he’s not only the leader of the APC but of Ondo State. He should be accorded that respect. He’s the chosen one. Any gangsterism against him will fail”.
He enjoined all the peace loving people to support the Ondo State Governor and President Tinubu in their resolve to deliver good governance.
“I was once the Aide de camp to the former military President of Nigeria. I understand the complexities of leadership at the highest level. I now practice politics at the grassroots. I relate with the masses on daily basis. I understand the fears and yearnings of the masses”. So, expectations will be mounting. It will take time and patience to address the previous neglect and imbalances.
Dr Adu pleaded for continued prayers for Nigeria to overcome its present challenges
During his 5 Million naira donation to support the construction of the proposed Civic Centre, the APC Ondo Central Senatorial Aspirant promised his continued support for self help initiatives that can promote development and boost the living conditions of our people.
“Our people must understand that the folksongs, pynagerics or narratives shouldn’t bring divisions among us as brothers and sisters.
He narrated the history behind the ”Akure Oko, Akure Oyemekun” folksong and ”omo amuda sile, m’ogun erun pani” pynagerics that drew applause and admiration from the invited guests, showcasing his versatility in socio-trado cultural, religious and political matters.
“They’re not meant to create divisions but to explain some prevailing circumstances as at then, but got twisted to fan enmity and segregation”.
He urged Akure speaking community to remain as one indivisible entity.
The Royal Father of the Day, His imperial Majesty, Oba (Dr) Ogunlade Aladelusi Aladetoyinbo, CFR, JP, Odundun ii, Deji of Akure Kingdom while eulogizing the Igoba king for his wisdom and leadership traits which he has displayed in piloting the affairs of his domain, he remarked about Dr Adu’s constant presence and remarkable support for traditional rulers in various communities in Ondo State.
“Adu Cubana is my good son. I am impressed with his kindness and interventions.
I pray for his success in his political endeavours.
“With Adu Cubana in office, I don’t need to run around for help again. Everybody will be happy”. The monarch jocularly confirmed the expectations of the vast majority of those supporting Dr Adu and his senatorial aspiration.
Deji of Akure further stated, ”At the council of Obas’ meetings, my colleagues from different local government areas will send greetings and prayers, through me to him, praising him for his humility and generosity”.
Among other donors, the Akure first class king also supported the proposed project with 1 Million naira to express his solidarity and love for Igoba development.
