His genetic empathy to uplift the downtrodden out of poverty and his burning commitment to contribute meaningfully to the community development led Barr. Olumuyiwa Adu “CUBBANA” to establish OLUMUYIWA ADU FOUNDATION (OAF) – a Not- for- profit organisation that has been providing myriad of interventions in critical areas like health, education, social welfare, sports, cultural and traditional promotions, business enhancement, spiritual upliftment and project executions among others.
His contributions to community projects and individual empowerment within Ondo State and beyond are being referenced as rare kind-hearted gestures that underscore glaring testaments of his impressive leadership attributes, resilience, capacity and generosity.
The legal luminary was born under mysterious circumstances, with signs and wonders that foretold his greatness and event- filled trajectories, into the popular dynasty of the Late Adu Williams –Falokun, the powerful High Chief Sao of Akure land who fought many battles that checkmated Akure invasion by Benin intruders.
As disclosed by close relatives, his grandfather, who was a fearless warrior and respected diviner, had earlier predicted that his grandson would be lucky and wealthy as he began his primary education in CAC Primary School Oke-Isegun but ended it up at St. Michael Catholic Primary School, both in Akure town.
Through perseverance, dint of hardwork, luck, grace and consistency, the highly intelligent Olumuyiwa survived the early hardship that could have truncated his education and promising future.
He later attended Anglican Grammar School Ijare (AGSI) in Ifedore Local government Area of Ondo State where he emerged as the best student of his set.
Despite securing university admissions, he opted for a military career following his admission into Nigerian Defence Academy from where he passed out in flying colours in 1984.
His unprecedented feats at the Academy as the best award- winning student was celebrated by Akure Community and its traditional leadership with pomp and ceremony.
His outstanding achievements and further display of talents stood him out for strategic appointments into the corridor of power during the military era.
Dr Adu crossed over to the Oil & KFC Industry in 1995 following his appointment as Security Consultant to a consortium of Technip of France, Strampogheti of Italy, Kellog of US and JGC of Japan otherwise known and addressed as TSKJ – the multinational company that constructed Nigeria Liquified Natural Gas Plant in Bonny Island, Rivers State.
Following the completion of the construction of the plant, he left for active engagements in two accounting firms before returning to full legal practice.
Dr Adu is an alumni of University of Ibadan and a certified generic leader by Lagos Business School.
He holds many academic awards from Nigerian and foreign universities including Queen’s University Belfast, United Kingdom – a direct acknowledgement of his contributions to legal practice and human development.
He is an accredited Management Trainer by the Centre for Management Development.
He was the Managing Attorney of Legal Point Limited for many years before he returned to Nigeria LNG Limited in direct employee capacity.
He started with the Company as Gas Transmission System Advisor before his rise to the strategic position as a Lead Advisor in the International oil company.
He is a member of many professional associations overseeing legal, accounting, security and management professions.
Dr Adu has traveled widely to many of the countries either for academic pursuits or for tourism. He has not less than 40 leadership awards and over 8 professional certificates to his credits.
Dr Adu is socially attached to over 80 clubs and associations both locally and internationally, either as a Patron or Grand Patron, showcasing his extensive networks and respect among people of diverse business interests, cultural backgrounds and religious inclinations.
Dr Olumuyiwa Adu has enjoyed robust relationship with many traditional Rulers across Nigeria, accumulating recognitions and chieftaincy titles despite his persistent reluctance: He is Aare Omoluabi Oodua Agbaye by His Imperial Majesty, Ooni of Ife; Atunluse of Iju Land and Asiwaju of Ugele.
Dr Adu has invested his time, energy and resources to promote democratic growth and grassroots participation in governance. He was the PDP candidate for Akure North/ Akure South Federal Constituency House of Representatives bye-election in 2022.
He was appointed Deputy Director General (Central), Lucky Aiyedatiwa Campaign Council in 2024
At present, Dr Adu is the Deputy Director General (Central), Lucky Aiyedatiwa Campaign Organisation for Tinubu (LACOT)- a mobilisation formation to galvanize grassroots support for the second term ambition of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.
Dr Adu’s vision is clear – To provide the needed gravitas that will sharpen representation that will bring good investments to the communities, avail sustainable empowerment programmes for the people, channel resources that will effect life impacting development and bring brightness to the present lack-lustre legislation at the Central Senatorial District of Ondo State.
He has yielded to the popular demand of the long- suffering masses to enter the senatorial race, not for aggrandizement, political deals, and drama nor for media sensationalism, but to provide a strong voice at the national podium that will change the plight of the ordinary Nigerians and to continue his demonstration of leadership and philanthrophy in a grandier style for the benefit of humanity.
Dr Olumuyiwa Adu’s credentials which have confirmed his loyalty, merit and winnability are also enough to convince the political stakeholders and the electorate about his suitability for the senatorial job.
