. Urges Intergovernmental collaboration to ensure success
The Ondo Central Senatorial District Aspirant under the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Barr Olumuyiwa Adu “Cubana” has lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR on the establishment of the Forest Guards of Nigeria and the immediate recruitment of the personnel.
Dr Adu released his statements following the announcement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public communication, Mr Sunday Dare, who stated that the implementation of the presidential directives will be coordinated by the Office of National Security Adviser and Ministry of Environment.
Commending this bold initiative, Dr Adu assured Nigerians that the establishment of forest guards to take charge of 1,129 forests will roundly combat terrorists, bandits and other criminal gangs that carry out illegal activities using our forest as hideouts.
Dr Adu, who is also a security expert, however, advised that the forest guards should be well- paid, well-trained and armed with modern weapons and technology in order to carry out their primary duties effectively and professionally.
“The collaborative security efforts between the federal and state governments will equally enhance the success of this massive recruitment of thousands of young people who are expected to be employed as personnel of the newly established outfit”, Dr Adu further stressed.
Dr Adu admonished all the well-meaning Nigerians and other critical stakeholders to support President Tinunbu in his avowed determination to take back our forests and every inch of the country’s territory from criminal elements operating illegally inside our forests.
