Dr Olumuyiwa Adu “Cubana”, the Senatorial Hopeful under the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dispelled the ongoing rumour about his acceptance of senatorial offer under the opposition parties.
The renowned philanthropist and political juggernaut made this clarification today during an interview with Abuja Correspondents of the News Trend Magazine.
According to him: “Though, there have been pressure on him from many patriotic stakeholders to explore other windows of opportunities aside the ruling party, considering his political weight and financial worth.
“Politicians have been calling me, asking about my next move, making overtures to offer me senatorial slots on their platforms.
“While appreciating their interests in my affairs, I will like to say that I am not a desperate politician. I am in politics to render service to my people, not for business.”
Dr Adu, a grassroots politician with large followership contested for Ondo Central Senatorial slot under the APC in the last primary election but became dissatisfied with conduct of the exercise and the preliminary declaration of the results.
From the video evidences and eye witnesses’ accounts, the pry election was characterised with violence, thuggery and disenfranchisement of his teeming supporters across the Senatorial District.
The game plan started with the misplacement of his name on the list of Ondo state senatorial aspirants. His name was enlisted among southern senatorial aspirants. This act was construed to be deliberate as it caused unimaginable confusion and discouragement among his supporters who are major residents of Ondo Central Senatorial District.
Fearing the negative consequences this contentious exercise would have on the fortune and image of the party as we approach 2027 general elections, Dr Adu has sent a strong- worded petition to the appropriate committee for redress.
While waiting for the official announcement of the primary election results from the National Working Committee of the Party, Dr Adu renewed his avowed commitment to the 2nd term ambition of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR and he has advised his supporters and sympathisers to remain calm and steadfast as he seeks justice and fairness through the established legitimate channels of the party.
